The consultancy encouraged us to see what God has done in our church during the last ten years but also helped us address issues that needed to be looked at as we move toward the future.
It made us more aware that we are not a church on our own but truly a branch of the Baptist family of Churches. [The consultants] demonstrated to us that they live the purpose statement of Queensland Baptists. God has blessed us through their visit.
There is a much greater spirit of unity within the church and leadership. It enabled people to deal with issues that were previously being suppressed.
It was good to have people from outside the church to have a close look at where we were at and to bring recommendations for change. Some of the changes required had already been recognised by the leadership but some were a surprise.
It brought some leadership issues to a head and exposed problems. Independent assessment of the ministry was of great value to the pastor and other key church leaders. It gave an assessment that included recognition of both achievements and things to work on.
